I'm a coloured pencil artist and tutor based in Winchester, UK, specialising in vibrant botanical subjects and the extraordinary detail that coloured pencils can capture. Although I'm best known for my florals, I'm equally drawn to bold colour, unusual subjects and finding beauty in unexpected places.

Art has always been part of who I am. I trained formally at art college before life led me into a successful career outside the arts. For many years, drawing took a back seat, but it never truly disappeared.

Everything changed when I left that career to become my husband George's full-time carer. During his cancer treatment, drawing became my sanctuary. I'd sit beside him through chemotherapy sessions, working at a small hospital table while he received treatment. What began as simple colouring rekindled a long-forgotten dream of becoming a professional artist. I drew every day, moved from graphite into coloured pencil, and by 2018 I was taking commissions.

In 2023 we relocated to the Philippines to be with George's family during his final months. After he passed away, I returned to the UK determined to build the creative life we'd both hoped for.

Florals continue to inspire me with their intricate forms, vibrant colours and quiet strength. Increasingly, I'm weaving subtle references to George and the England he loved into my botanical work, creating pieces that bridge memory, love and hope.

I'm endlessly curious and love learning. While coloured pencil remains my primary medium, I enjoy exploring new materials and techniques. Since 2021 I've been proud to represent Derwent Art, including having my artwork featured on the flagship 100 Inktense Pencils tin. It's been a wonderful partnership and has connected me with an inspiring community of artists.

Teaching is another passion. Whether I'm leading workshops, teaching online, creating video tutorials or writing, I love helping others discover what's possible with coloured pencils. I firmly believe that art doesn't have to be intimidating; curiosity, patience and a willingness to keep learning will take you much further than perfection ever will.

I'm a regular contributor to Leisure Painter and The Artist magazines, where I write the monthly Colour Pencil Clinic, sharing practical advice and techniques with artists of all abilities.

Although I don't exhibit regularly, I've been honoured to receive awards including Best Floral at the International Guild of Realism Awards (2021) and Best Woodland/Landscape at the SAA Artist of the Year Awards (2020).

Above all, I hope my work encourages people to slow down, notice the extraordinary beauty in ordinary things, and perhaps find a little peace in the process.
